Perhaps the most historically significant and inspiring element of the Experience Texas Outdoor Showcase will take place at Avenger Field, home of the Women Airforce Service Pilots, more affectionately known as the WASPs.
A Tribute to Aviation
On Friday, September 25th, the city of Sweetwater will extend a warm West Texas welcome to dozens of pilots from across the state and country as they descend on Avenger Field in a scheduled, organized fly-in. Military and civilian aircraft from all different eras, including historical planes from WWII, custom-built personal aircraft, modern private jets, state-of-the-art military planes and helicopters, and all sorts of other aircraft are expected to make an appearance.
Details are still being determined, but the tentative schedule is that visitors will be able to visit the WASP Museum and watch the fly-in on Friday, September 25th, and then on Saturday, September 26th, visitors will be able to tour the different aircraft on display at the airfield. The planes and their crews will make their departures on Sunday, September 27th.
Experience the Past
This element of the Experience Texas Outdoor Showcase will allow kids and adults alike to get their hands on history… to see, hear, feel, and EXPERIENCE the past. It will give the current generation an inside look into the awesome and impressive technology and capabilities of the aviation industry, and it will inspire the next generation of adventurers to aspire for greatness. You won’t want to miss it!
Tickets for the air show at Avenger Field will be available online and at the gate at the WASP Museum. We can’t wait to see you there!
